As the longest recreational trail in the world, The Trans Canada Trail offers a wide range of activities through a variety of landscapes. Whether you are looking for a place to hike, cycle, paddle, ride, cross-country ski, or snowmobile, you can find an experience that resonates with you.
True to its name, The Trans Canada Trail embodies the vastness of our terrain and the diversity of our people. It is our wish to help promote this Canadian jewel. Family and friends have shown an interest in joining us for some section walks. Also, we will endeavor to meet people along the walk and learn more about our country and its history. |
We started the Trans Canada Trail walk in June 2018. We began from St John's NFLD, crossing more than 900km on 'The Rock'. Continuing west, we crossed the other Maritime Provinces Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. We walked until we couldn't in late October. We stopped, regrouped for the winter months and planned our next summer on the TCT.
In May 2019, we resumed our trek, continuing west across Quebec and Ontario. We stopped at Sault Ste Marie, Ontario when the weather turned too cold to continue (late October again).
In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we shortened our walking season. Staying in our province of residence (Ontario). We walked over 500 kilometers on the north shores of Lake Superior, crossing four parks (provincial and federal).

Our 2021 season was again thwarted by the ongoing pandemic. We chose instead, to walk (yo-yo, back and forth) a local trail, the Rideau Trail from Ottawa to Kingston.
For the 2022 walking season, we chose to hike the Great Divide Trail in the Canadian Rockies. The TCT will wait another year. We will continue the East to West crossing of The Trans Canada Trail, approx, 13,000km, in 2023 and 2024, finishing in Victoria, BC in the fall of 2024. First and foremost, the here is the link to The Trans Canada Trail website. It is key for any travelers on the trail. The website and in particular, the smart phone app are of great benefit to any long-distance hiker. |
